Man, you've really improved since Paranoia! This track is definitely one of your best if not the best. Though, I do have something more to say.
That bass in the verse is very nice, it really gives the verse some C H O N K. The melody is quite good and the arp accompanying it is really nice and bouncy. Now here's the first actual improvement I see compared to the rest of your songs - the build-up isn't overpowering the drop.
Yes, you finally made a build-up that isn't more powerful than the drop and is actually weaker than the said drop. That (and the little pause with just the melody before the drop) makes the drop feel much more powerful. Now, the drop is good, but I would delete the arp from it because I think that it makes the drop feel kinda silly(though that's probably just a preference thing).
The break before the second build-up is great, I have nothing else to say about it. The bass at the beginning of the 2nd drop kinda sounds arhythmic. I think that could be fixed by just adding some rides or a cowbell (following the 4-on-the-floor pattern).
Other than that, everything is, at least in my opinion, quite perfect. You've done quite a good job, m8!
thanks so much man! literally helpful. the only thing i dont agree with is for the arp lol - i mean its here just to fill space, sounded pretty empty without it imo.
1:30 woah, i was not expecting that at all! Also the added drums at the verses are very interesting. You did quite a good job :)
Thanks <3
Oh man, those growls are very nice!
Thanks :D
This definitely a good remix, but I feel like the mixing and mastering could've been a little better.
The drums are a bit too loud and, because of that, they don't blend in very nicely into the mix. Everything else seems to be done nicely, like sound design, melodies, instrumental variation, etc.. But I don't think it was worth spending those 20 hours in just 3 days and losing some sleep. I feel like it would've been better if you had spent those 20 hours in 5 days.
thanks a lot! actually, my mastering is bad at all so this one turned good imo
yea I should sleep more lol
So, let's start with the fact that this isn't melodic Dubstep. It's some sub-genre of House... and I really can't figure out what it is. What I'm saying is, that you may have created a new sub-genre!
Anyway, the first thing that I actually noticed was the rolling bass from 0:20 to 0:40. As simple as it is to make, It was still really cool. I'm not exactly sure what you did right to make it this powerful, but that honestly doesn't really matter.
Now, a tip for the future(not to say that this is necessary here) - repeating the first chord and the first part of the melody in the build-up. That's just to create more tension.
Another tip would be to turn down the volume of the fx (risers, impacts, white noise, etc.).
Oh, and if you want the kick to feel stronger you can side-chain the leads, the bass, and other stuff to it (you can do that by adding a Fruity peak controller to the Kick channel, then going over to a channel you want to side-chain, pressing right-mouse-button on the volume knob(or whatever that is) selecting "link to controller", then, of course, selecting the controller and then finally changing the Mapping formula to "Inverted").
Anyway, that is all I have to say, I hope these tips help.
Thanks a lot man!
Yeah, the sidechain is a bit weak, sorry.
The rolling bass is a simple harmor preset which I made in my free time.
So, the track opens up with this bass which is quite cool.
0:18 come in the hi-hats and they just seem kinda random, so putting a crash there would be good.
On 0:35 comes in this lead or whatever the hell it is which slowly transitions into this cool melody. Nothing really wrong there except maybe you could put in some ambiences, but other than that it's good.
And then 1:09 - 1:44 is just this really interesting atmosphere. I especially like that arp on the build-up.
The drop is a little underwhelming tho. I don't really know why. It also drags on for way too long without it being that eventful. Yes, you did put in those extra elements, but I feel like you also needed to change the bass a little bit too. I would just shorten the drop(I know, I know, sometimes you make this cool sound and you really want to include it, but sometimes(usually) it ends up hurting the track).
Then there's the 2nd drop(i skipped the 2nd build-up because there's really nothing to discuss about it, to be honest) which has a cool idea... executed not all that nicely. You either messed too much with the EQ or not enough. What I'm saying is that the sound is a bit too dry. Also, the rhythm you made for it is just a bit too repetitive. I feel like you should've added some of those earlier elements you had on the 1st drop. And the effect on the sound on the 2nd part of the drop sounds... let's just say not good. And I know, you did mention the 2nd drop in the description, but I still wanted to discuss it.
Anyway, overall this is a cool idea with some questionable decisions. The melodies were very cool, the sound design was questionable in some cases, but in most it was good, you're definitely getting better at it. The biggest issue in your tracks is the arrangement(believe me, I know quite a bit about arrangement since the very first program/app I used for music stuff was all about arrangement of the sounds), so I'd suggest working on that.
Anyway, that's all I have to say, have a good day! (Woah, that rhymes)
Thanks a lot!
I actually noticed the drops are a bit weak for the build-ups, sorry.
Yes, the second drop is bad.
Next time I'll use your advices, thx!
This very good, although the drums are a bit messy. That's why i give it 4.5 stars instead of 5.
Oh thanks bro!
